(Minority Biomedical Research Support-Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement)

The NMSU MBRS RISE to Excellence Program is a research-oriented program sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Its primary objective is to diversify the community of Ph.D. researchers in the biomedical/biobehavioral sciences.

The NMSU RISE to Excellence Program encourages applications from minorities underrepresented in the sciences, first generation college students, military veterans, disabled students, and students who have faced obstacles to obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to develop and participate in a research career. Students are selected for RISE to the Doctorate in the summer and fall and immediately enter a RISE laboratory to conduct individual research under the guidance of a RISE faculty mentor.
